Premier Cricket: 2nd phase first-round matches today

Three 2nd phase first-round matches of the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League will be held today (Wednesday) at as many venues surrounding the capital.
Dhaka Mohammedan SC will play Brothers Union Club at BKSP ground-3 while Prime Bank Cricket Club take on Kalabagan KC at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club encounter Legends of Rupganj at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on the day.
In the opening first-round matches on Monday, Dhaka Abahani Limited made a flying start outplaying Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity by nine wickets at BKSP ground-4, newcomers Agrani Bank Cricket Club earned a creditable eight-wicket victory over defending champions Gazi Group Cricketers at BKSP ground-3 while Shinepukur Cricket Club upset Prime Doleshwar SC by five wickets in Fatullah.
Meanwhile, former captain of Pakistan cricket team Salman Butt reached Dhaka on Monday noon to play for the Dhaka Mohammedan in the Premier Division League and he is likely to feature in the match against Brothers Union Club on Wednesday.
Pakistani opening batsman Salman Butt was given a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB to play in the Dhaka Premier League, the Bangladesh’s domestic List-A tournament, after the board cleared him of the controversy surrounding the privately organised Ajman All Stars tournament.
Following the PCB’s go-ahead, Butt signed up with Mohammedan Sporting Club for the entire season.
