His latest film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo too has entered the 100-crore club… and gone beyond that. And that’s not all. The collections of the first weekend, which lasted four days, have broken the record of being the highest opening weekend collections, Happy New Year now coming second at Rs 108.86 crore. The film kickstarted the dream run with Rs 40.35 crore on the opening day last Thursday. This was followed by a 23 per cent drop, resulting in Rs 31.05 crore in earnings on Friday and Rs 30.07 crore on Saturday. Seeing another drop of 10 per cent in collections on Sunday, the film still managed to collect a high number of Rs 28.30 crore. Though the total opening weekend collection of Rs 129.77 crore falls slightly below the projected figure of Rs 135 crore, the international earnings made up for it with a landmark total of Rs 52.58 crore in four days. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions added a meagre Rs 2.75 crore to the grand total of Rs 185.10 crore.
