Precautionary measures have been taken across Sylhet to prevent the Coronavirus.
A separate corner has been opened at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in advance. Special precautions have also been taken at Sylhet Osmani International Airport and Tamabil Land Port.
Deputy Director of Osmani Medical College Hospital Dr. Himanshu Lal Roy said a separate corner has been opened at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College to fight coronavirus spread from China to the world. In addition, as a precautionary measure, a seven-member expert team has been made under the leadership of the hospital’s professor of medicine. Dr. Shishor Kumar Chakraborty.
He said an eight-bed separate corner has been opened at the hospital under the direction of the Health Ministry. Earlier this word was used as a dengue corner. All the medical and medical facilities have been kept here.
He added that besides the necessary medicines, oxygen, masks, hand gloves, aprons, and various materials were kept in this corner. Coronavirus infected or if any symptoms of the virus are detected in anyone, he/she will be kept admitted to the corner of the hospital.
Meanwhile, Sylhet Osmani International Airports Insurance Manager Hafiz Ahmed said necessary measures have also been taken at Sylhet Osmani International Airport to prevent the transmission of the virus. The health of the passengers arriving at the airport directly from outside the country is being checked.
He said affirmative action has already been taken on coronavirus earlier. In return, the health of travelers returning overseas is being examined with the assistance of the Civil Surgeon’s Office.
On the other hand, a temporary medical camp has been set up at the immigration center of Sylhet’s Tamabil land port under the leadership of Assistant Surgeon Rashedul Islam of Goainghat Upazila Health Complex. A 5-member team has been working at the camp since Wednesday morning. Travelers from different countries, including India, who arrived at the port, have been examined at a medical camp to find out if anyone has coronavirus.
Coronavirus: Govt orders screening at Benapole Land Port
UNB from Benapole reports : The health ministry has ordered screening of all people coming to Bangladesh from India through the Benapole land port for coronavirus.
In two weeks, 10,536 people have been screened but no case was detected.
However, the rapid spread of the virus has caused panic among Bangladeshis who frequent India.
Between 8,000 and 10,000 people use the land port every day. About 12 percent of them are foreigners.
Meanwhile, the number of global coronavirus cases rose to nearly 14,380, surpassing that of the 2003 Sars epidemic which spread to more than two dozen countries, according to Chinese and World Health Organization data.
The majority of the cases have been reported from China but about 100 cases have been confirmed in 23 other countries.
Deaths caused by the new virus rose to at least 304 globally.
The Philippines has reported the first coronavirus death outside China, reports the South China Morning Post.
Bangladesh brought back 316 of its nationals from Wuhan in China’s Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak, on Saturday and kept them at a quarantine unit at Ashkona.
