Prabir Mitra is a living legend of our film arena. He has been suffering from knee injuries for more than last 12 years. He is now staying at his second son Nipun’s residence in the capital’s Kalabagan area. Nipun informed that his father did not hear anything for last two years. He will turn into 79 today. According to his son, there is no arrangement for celebrating his father’s birthday. His younger brother Subir Kumar Mitra will come to their residence to meet Prabir Mitra today. In 2000, Prabir Mitra lost his wife Ajanta Mitra. He also lost his younger son Akash in 2012. After losing wife and son now Prabir Mitra is passing painful days because he cannot act due to his knee injuries. He has been passing days at home now.
In 1982, Prabir Mitra got the National Film Award for acting in Mohiuddin directed film Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo. Later he acted in many films but did not get any state honour. Prabir Mitra said, “Viewers’ loves is a great achievement to me. I have come into present position for their loves. I want to survive with their loves.”
Hari Prasanna Mitra was grandfather of Prabir Mitra by whom there is a road in Tanti Bazar’s Hari Prasanna Mitra Road in Dhaka. Prabir Mitra-starrer first film was Chabuk. Kobori acted against this actor in that film. He last acted in SD Rubel’s film Briddhasrom.
