The body of Rangpur’s Special Public Prosecutor Rathish Chandra Bhowmik was recovered on Wednesday five days after he allegedly went missing in Rangpur city.
His body was found in an abandoned building in the city’s Tajhat Mollapara area around 2:30am. His brother Shushanta Bhowmik and other relatives identified the victim.
Ratish is a victim of extramarital affair of his wife Dipa Bhowmik with her colleague Kamrul Islam Jafri – both assistant teachers of Tajhat High School, said Mizanur Rahman, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangpur.
 “Dipa Bhowmik alias Snigdha Sarker confessed to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) that she had an extramarital affair with her colleague Kamrul Islam and they planned to murder Rathish two months ago,” Benazir Ahmed, Director General (DG) of the elite force, told the reporters at a press briefing at RAB-13 Headquarters in Rangpur on Wednesday afternoon.
As a reason, he is pointing fingers at a family feud centering extra-marital affair of Dipa, the RAB chief said.
 “Both Snigdha and Kamrul are teachers of Tajhaat High School of Rangpur. As per planning, with the help of their two students Sabuj and Rokonuzzaman, they dug a whole inside an under construction building at Mollapara area on Wednesday. They paid tk 600 to the class x students ,” Benazir said quoting Snigdha’s confessional statement.
They made first made Rathish unconscious as 10 sedative pills were mixed with his food on March 29. Then they (couple) strangled him to death with scarf. The body was packed in an almira to send it Mollahat, the DG said.
On the next day, lawyer Rathish was given 10 sleeping pills through his meal and strangled to death by Kamrul and Snigdha”, he added.
 “Kamrul went out of the house around 5.00am the next day and came back with a rickshaw-van around 9.00am. They hide the body into an Alimirah in the name of changing it, then the body was taken to Tajerhat Mollarpara area and buried it in an under construction building. Kamrul earlier hired three men to shift the Alimirah on the van,” he said quoting Dipa.
The body was then left at the basement of an under-construction building in Mollahat area with the help of their students. They buried the closet with the body inside, the DG said.
Earlier, based on Snigdha’s confession, RAB members recovered the body around 2:30am on Wednesday although the body rescue drive started at 8:30pm on Tuesday. The PP’s brother Sushanta Bhoumik identified the body of Rathish, according to RAB chief.
Snigdha and Kamrul and their two students Sabuj and Rokonuzzaman have been so far arrested in a case regarding the sensational murder, he said.
The body was unearthed as per the instruction of the deceased’s wife. Following murder, her husband was buried there, said RAB-13 commander (Acting) Major Armin Rabbi.
SP Mizanur said at the time that the law enforcers were working on significant information gleaned from the duo.
Earlier in the afternoon, police launched a search around Rathis’ home, he said.
They suspended the operation after finding a blooded shirt from the garbage put in a hole, but Subal confirmed it was not his brother’s, the SP said.
On Tuesday night, police detained Dipa while her lover Kamrul Islam and his brother Motiur Rahman were picked up police on Monday for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of the public prosecutor.was. The lawyers of Rangpur demanded highest penalty for Dapa and her lover Kamrul, said our local correspondent quoting police. The crimination of Ratish Chandra was completed at South Sawshan area in the city on Wednesday night.
