Four time’s best taxpayers Kamrul Ashraf Khan Poton’s M/s Poton Traders stand besides the farmers carrying fertilizer in bypassing every hardship in every season.
“Even accepting crores of Taka loss, the Poton Traders carry, stock and preserve fertilizer due to help the farmers so that they can fertilize their crops land in time,” officials of the company told The New Nation.
Poton traders is working as receivers and transportation agent of MOP fertilizers under a state agreement since 2007.
It has carried and delivered about 46 lakh metric tones of MOP fertilizers by 136 mother vessels so far with goodwill.
The company also carried and delivered one crore, 11 lakh and 42 thousand metric tones of Urea fertilizer of Bangladesh Chemical Corporation (BCIC) since 1996 to till 2022, the officials said.
They said that it is a rare achievement in this transportation sector.
The company become loser of crores of Taka due to booking private godown for preserving the state owned BADC’s Urea fertilizer for helping the farmers as well to contribute the nation only.
Officials said that in one month, 12 mother vessel has come in the port suddenly due to Laycan complications. They said that people of this syndicate used to buy demand letters for the districts where demands of the fertilizer is lower and are selling in higher prices in those districts where its demand is high.
Replying to a query, Kamrul Ashraf Khan said that his company has no fertilizer license yet.
“Poton traders never sell fertilizer and it is not our business. Some people are spreading false and untrue rumours due to their zelaousy to our goodwill only,” Kamrul Ashraf Khan said.
Kamrul Ashraf Khan Poton, former MP and long time Chairman of Bangladesh Fertilizer Association (BFA) said that his company will work with positive attitude for contributing the agriculture of the country for long.
He also said that some dishonest traders are behind creating artificial crisis of the fertilizer.
