Port users comprehends to increase dynamism of CPA as acquitted from ACC

The dynamism of the Chittagong Port will increase further in cargo handling, cargo delivery and ongoing development work following the acquitting the senior port officials from irregularities and corruption as opined by the port users.
 After six -month long investigation, Anti -corruption Commission acquitted the allegedly accused top officials of CPA. The port users sources said , it was quite impossible to conduct the port activities promptly and accurately shouldering allegations of irregularities and corruptions by senior port officials.
Despite this mental torture of false allegations upon senior port officials, the tremendous development achieved in all respect in CP in last few years. Chairman of Port-Shipping -customs committee of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Mahfuzul Hoque Shah told the New Nation that generally a common people is also suffers from mental tensions if he was allegedly accused with any kinds of allegations. Similarly a dynamic official also suffers for any allegations against him and lose his initiatives for any big task. He said in this context, Port chairman is in different and he never lose his heart for such fabricated allegations rather advanced with different upcoming projects like Bay Terminal, Bulk Terminal and ongoing development works of the port. A leader of BGMEA in Chittagong told that vision of the govtof exporting RMG products of 50 billions US dollars by 2021 will be jeopardized if the dynamism of port activities are geared up . BGMEA sources said the handling capacity of containers is gradually increasing in CP for the last few years and to gear up its activities further, we want Bay Terminal, Karnaphuli Container Terminal, new ICT and ICDs. A Port users sources said there is no alternatives of transporting the raw materials for RMG factories located at Gazipur, Narayangong and Ashulia through river routes with less fares instead of road ways.
The acquit of 4 top officials of Ctg Port including Port Chairman Rear Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed was informed by ACC Secretary Abu Mohammad Mostaf a Kamal in a letter on Wednesday last. Mentionable that ACC launched investigation against CP chairman in first week of March last centring the procurement of port’s handling equipments and the Director of ACC Md. Nur Ahmed and Deputy Director Sheikh Mohammad were engaged as investigation officers. The allegations so lodged against CP Chairman are misappropriation of Tk.35 cr in procuring three container vessels and Tk.11 cr for procuring 10 mobile cranes and scanner machines respectively. CP chairman told the media that CPA never conduct any procurement beyond rules and regulations . He refuted these false allegations against him which proved by ACC recently.
 He said CPA is a challenging national organization and 93% imports and exports are dealt by this port and recently CPA built Auction shed, car shed, water treatment plant, revived the Dock Management office, revived the slipway, operation of NCT terminal and implementing the ISPS code despite different procrastinations, he added.
 Moreover, CPA is going to built Bay Terminal, Bulk Terminal which is remarkable achievement in 128 years history of CP, sources added. He further said everything is done for the better interest of the country and the importers and exporters are getting output of these achievements.
