Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Sunday said development of land, river and sea ports will expedite building of a developed Bangladesh by 2041.
“We will build a developed Bangladesh by 2041 by developing and bringing dynamism to our ports,” he said.
The minister came up with the observations while addressing the inaugural session of a seminar titled “Addressing Land Port Issues for Better Indo-Bangla Trade” at Sonargaon Hotel here in the capital.
India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (IBCCI) organised the daylong seminar.
Presided over by IBCCI president Abdul Matlub Ahmad, the seminar was also addressed by Acting Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Adarsh Swaika, former Bangladeshi High Commissioner to India Tarik Karim and IBCCI vice-president M Shoeb Chowdhury, among others.
The minister said after coming power in 2009, the Awami League government increased the number of land ports to 23 from 12.
