Pori Moni victim of conspiracy: Lawyer Bail hearing Aug 18

Actress Pori Moni is innocent and a victim of conspiracy and she must be granted bail, said her Lawyer Mujibur Rahman in his client Pori Moni’s bail application.
On Monday Mujibur Rahman applied for bail in the court of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Rezaul Karim Chowdhury. The court set Wednesday (August 18) for the bail hearing.
In the bail application it was mentioned that, the accused is a woman. So, she can get bail as per 47 (1) (c) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. Once granted bail, the accused will not violate the bail conditions. So, the accused could be provided bail as per the court order.
Though the accused was remanded in police custody for about 26 hours, but no important information or evidence was divulged during the interrogation.
The accused is also patient of ‘Vertigo’ and ‘Panic Attack’. She has been inhumanely tortured for a long time in police custody and has become sick.
Besides, the accused is innocent and also the victim of conspiracy. Therefore, in the interest of medical treatment, the accused must be released on bail.
Earlier, a Dhaka court ordered to send actress Pori Moni to jail rejecting the bail petitions in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act after a six-day remand.
Pori Moni’s lawyers requested first class status, better known as division, for the actress and the court ordered authorities to see to the matter according to prison rules.
As Dhaka’s central jail in Keraniganj did not take women prisoners, Pori Moni was taken to the Kashimpur Women’s Central Prison.
On Aug 4, RAB raided the actress’s home in Banani and arrested her. A narcotics case was filed against her at the Banani Police Station the following day. The investigation report in the case is due on Sept 15.
