Pope Francis due Thursday

“The Pope will visit with a message of reconciliation, forgiveness and peace,” said, Cardinal and Archbishop Patric D’ Rojario, the President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh (CBCB) while addressing a
press briefing at the Archbishop’s house, Kakrail in the city on Monday.
According to the CBCB, the Pope is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:00pm on November 30 (Thursday) from Yangon, Myanmar, where he started his three-day visit from Monday.
Archbishop Moses M Costa, Bishop Jedars Rojario, Bishop Sebastian Tudu, Bishop Sharat Francis Gomez, Bishop Subrata Hawladar and Bishop Romen Bairagi, among others, were present at the briefing.
Cardinal Patric D’ Rojario said, the Pope will meet with a delegation of Rohingya Muslims and meet with Bangladesh’s political and religious leadership in Dhaka.
The trip was planned before the latest spasm of violence erupted in August, when Rohingya militants attacked security positions in Rakhine, the cardinal explained.
After a formal ceremony with highest honour, Pope will visit to the National Martyr’s Memorial at Savar, will pay homage at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and will sign the visitors’ book on the same day.
He will meet President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban at about 5:30pm on Thursday and will also meet government and civil authorities and the Diplomatic Corps in the Presidential Palace.
Pope will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 3:20pm on Friday and will visit the Cathedral at 4:00pm.
He will hold meeting with the Bishops of Bangladesh in the Home for retired priests.
On Saturday, Pope will have a private visit to Tejgaon Mother Theresa House and will meet with priests, religious and consecrated men and women in the Holy Rosary Church.
He will also visit to the Parish Cemetery and to the ancient Holy Rosary Church and will meet the youth in Notre Dame College. His trip will be ended with a youth rally on December 2.
Pope will leave for Rome at 5:05pm on Saturday after an official farewell in Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
 “My visit is to confirm the Catholic community in Bangladesh in its faith and witness to the Gospel that recognizes the dignity of every man and woman and calls us to open our hearts to others, especially to the poor and needy,” Pope said in his message.
