Pop singer Jane Alam dies of Coronavirus

Noted pop singer and lyricist Jane Alam passed away after a prolonged battle with Coronavirus on Tuesday night. The 65-year old singer breathed his last at 10:00pm while undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital. The news was confirmed by the owner of CD Choice, Zahirul Islam Sohel. According to Sohel, the pop singer was affected by Covid-19 and was under treatment
at the hospital for a month. He was also struck
by pneumonia at the time.
Jane Alam was put on life support when his health condition deteriorated Tuesday but he couldn’t make a comeback.
According to family sources, the first Namaz-e-Janaza of Jane Alam was held in Moghbazar yesterday and then he was taken to his village home in Manikganj where he was laid to rest.
Born in Manikganj’s Harirampur, Jane Alam started rendering songs soon after the independence of Bangladesh. He gained popularity after his first album, Bonomali. He was inspired by his mentor (guru) pop legend Azam Khan.
Jane Alam went on to sing 4,000 songs in his career including hits like Ekti Gondomer Lagiya, Ishkul Khuilachhe, Amar Antorai, Boishakhe Tomar Sathe, among many others.
