Police has unlocked the main gate of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office. Police opened the lock at around 11.30am on Thursday, but huge law enforcers have still been deployed in front of the office main gate. The BNP chief has been kept confined to her office since Saturday night as she threatened to hold mass rallies in capital Dhaka to mark ‘Democracy Killing Day’ on January 5, the first anniversary of the last parliamentary polls that was boycotted by her party and it`s allies. Khaleda made her last effort to come out from the office on Monday afternoon by a car, but law enforcers locked all the gates. The law enforcers also used pepper spray to disperse the party leaders and activists waiting inside the gate. Several BNP leaders including Khaleda and journalists were injured in the police action there. Protesting her confinement, Khaleda Zia called an indefinite countrywide blockade that started on Tuesday amid sporadic incidents across the country. – risingbd.com
