Police torture students in remand: Rizvi

The BNP on Saturday accused the police of torturing students in remand arrested after the road safety movement.
 “Police are torturing students in remand arrested after road safety movement to make them confess guilt,” BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said it in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital.
He said that the young students took to the streets recently demanding safe journey on roads and highways.
Thus they contributed much to create awareness among the people about necessities of road safety. But the government became panicked at the students’ agitation.
They are arresting even showbiz model and businessmen on the charge of supporting the students’ movement.
Awami League’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader being nervous is threatening the opposition leaders.
BNP central leader Ahmed Azam Khan, Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anny, Asadul Karim Shaheen, Munir Hossain and Taiful Islam Tipu, among others, were present.
