UNB, Dhaka :
Police will request the Home Ministry very soon to ban Islamist militant group Ansar-Al-Islam so that it becomes easier for law enforcement agencies to control the activities of militants operating under the banner, said the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday.
This was revealed to reporters by Additional Commissioner and head of DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CVTTC) Monirul Islam at DMP media centre.
“We’ll write to the Home Ministry to take necessary steps in this regard,” he said. Ansar-Al-Islam, which claimed itself to be Bangladesh chapter of al-Qaeda in the Indian Sub-Continent, started operating soon after militant group Ansarullah Basngla team (ABT) was banned by the government on May 25, 2015.
