As the Coronavirus infection is on rise, the police will be on the field in action. From March 21, the law enforcement forces will work across the country to motivate the people to wear masks.
The special motivation program taken by the police will continue till the coronavirus situation returns to normal. The slogan of the program is “Get the habit of wearing mask, make Covid-19 free Bangladesh”.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has announced the program in a press briefing in Rajarbagh police auditorium of Dhaka at the coronavirus preventing
awareness program on Thursday afternoon. The IGP said there was no alternative to mask to prevent Corona. We should follow strictly all hygiene rules. So that we and our family can be free from Coronavirus.
The community police will also work to carry out motivation programs across the country.
Masks will also be distributed free of cost if required. Apart from that, IGP urged individuals or organizations to participate in the police motivational program.
Benazir said that their aims are to inspire the people of the country, so that they will wear masks whenever they go out of home and offices.
“Please wear masks whenever you go out of the house. Never forget to go out without a mask. The issue must be kept in mind and practiced until we will get rid of the Covid-19 infection completely.”
Asked has any decision been taken about the lockdown for increasing infections, the IGP said, “We don’t want to predict the future at the moment. There is no need to suspend our normal life, the momentum of economic activity. However, we do not want the situation to take a turn for the worse due to reckless behavior.”
When the journalist brought the issue of recent political rallies to the IGP, he said, “We want to say that it is better to avoid them. But if it (rally) has to be done, please everyone take the permission (police) and do it according to the hygiene rules.”
Mentioning that about 4.8 million people have been vaccinated, the IGP said, “It should not be forgotten that there are 180 million people in the country who are in various stages of vaccination.”
There is no reason to think that every thing has been finished with 45 or 46 lakh people taking vaccine, he added.
However, he also commented that it would be difficult to control the upward trend of the Corona situation if recklessly wandering around without a mask.
