Police SI detained in Sylhet with journalist’s stolen bike

A sub-inspector (SI) of police has been detained along with a stolen motorcycle of a journalist at Taltola in Sylhet city on Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Samiran Singh, a residential officer at the Deputy Commissioners (South) Office of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
Kotwali Model Police Station OC Gousul Hossain said,He was held from a workshop near Dilshad Cinema Hall while repairing the stolen motorcycle around 6pm on Thursday.
Later, the SI was closed primarily and attached to Sylhet Police Lines,
Further departmental action was being taken against him, Gousul said, adding that the motorcycle was also returned to its original owner Maruf Ahmed, Sylhet correspondent of private TV channel NTV.
Maruf said his motorcycle was from the citys Manikpir Road on December 20. He had filed a case over the matter two days later and bought a new motorcycle.
On Thursday, he had gone to a workshop at Taltola to install a sensor horn on his new motorcycle when Samiran came to the same shop with the stolen one for repair works.
After Maruf discreetly informed his cases investigation officer SI Shafiqul Islam of Kotwali Police Station about the situation, a police team arrived and detained Samiran on the spot.
