Police-people ties needed to face terrorism, militancy

State Minister for Water Resources Lt Colonel (Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiro MP (Birpratik) underscored the need for police-people ties to build a terrorism and militancy free Bangladesh.
He said community policing is a social movement. He urged all to continuing the movement for the welfare of the country.
The State Minister said this while he was addressing as chief guest in a huge gathering of Narsingdi district community policing at Police Lines here on Monday evening.
Inspector General of Police (IGP)AKM Shahidul Hoque BPM,PPM addressed the function as principal speaker while Parliament Member (MP) Narsingdi constituency-4 Nural Mojid Mahmud Humayan, Parliament Member (MP)constituency-3 Shirajul Islam Mollah and Parliament Member (MP) constituency -2 Kamrul Ashraf Khan Potan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dhaka Range SM Mahfuzul Hoque Nuruzzaman BPM-Bar, PPM, Chairman of Polash upazila parishad Jabed Hossain, Mayor ,Narsingdi Pourashava Kamruzzaman Kamrul and and Chairman of Shilmandi Union Parishad Abdul Baker addressed as respectable guests.
Inspector general of police Shahidul Hoque called for closer relation between the people and police to combat crimes in society. He said Law and order would be improved, rate of crimes would fall and the people would live in peace if the police can work with the cooperation of community police. Urging unity of all for the welfare of the country, IGP said, this country belongs to all of us not to any individual or group. He said the defeated forces still hatching conspiracies against nation and trying ti create an unstable situation in the country. He called upon all to remain alert to face the conspiracies. He also asked the police to discharge their duties professionally to maintain law and order as wellas curbing criminal acts.
