UNB, Dhaka :Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque on Wednesday said police are committed to going tough on militants so that they can be wiped out of the country.”We’ll face the militant activities taking people with us,” he said while addressing a function marking the handover of financial assistance of Tk 70 lakh to the family members of four policemen, who were killed during militant attacks on Gulshan Holy Artisan Bakery in the capital and Sholakia Eidgah.The IGP said police faced the militants of Gulshan and Sholakia risking theirown lives. “Their sacrifice to serve the motherland has strengthened our confidence. Bangladesh Police will remember their contributions with respect forever,” he said.Later, the IGP handed over the money and savings certificates worth Tk 70 lakh to the family members of four killed policemen – AC Md Rabiul Karim, OC Salahuddin, Constable Jahirul Islam and Constable Ansarul Islam.Besides, Madhumoti Bank distributed Tk 5 lakh among family members of each of the four slain policemen.Senior police officials of the Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and Superintendent of Kishoreganj Police Md Anwar Hossain also addressed the function.AC Rabiul and OC Salahuddin were killed by the militants during the terrorist attack on Holy Artisan Bakery on July 1 while Constable Jahirul and Constable Ansarul were killed as militants attacked a police checkpost around 1 kM off the Sholakia Eidgah on July 7.
