The police did not find involvement of Salim Osman in humiliating Shyamol Kanti Bhakto, Headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School, for his derogatory remarks against religion.
Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju confirmed that the report of police investigation in the case of humiliating school teacher by local lawmaker Salim Osman reached his office
Salim Osman was seen in a video footage that he
was directing the school teacher to oblige his order sitting and standing holding his ears.
The video footage went viral in the social media and the report on the incident was published in news paper as well as by the electronic media. The school authority sacked the teacher ignoring protests across the country.However, Salim Osman refuted the charge.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Md Iqbal Kabir issued a suo moto rule on May 18, 2016 asking the local authorities in the district to submit a report on what lawful measures was taken following the incident.
The court also asked the Home Secretary, Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj, Superintendent of Police, Officer-in-Charge of Bandar Police Station and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer to respond to the rule.
Senior lawyer MK Rahman and Mohsin Rashid produced copies of the newspaper reports to the court.
