Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP, in a series of drives, arrested five members of an organized motorcycle lifting gang during the last 24 hours ending on Saturday.
The arrested were Mohammad Mohsin Chowdhury alias Sadam,34, Amir Hossain,38, Mohammad Sakib,27, Mohammad Mohiuddin,33, and Mohammad Iqbal,36.
Police recovered five stolen motorcycles and documents of 100 stolen motorcycles from the possessions of the arrested, police said.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Chandgaon thana police arrested Iqbal and Amir Hossain from Kalamia Bazar area under Bakalia thana last night with a stolen motorcycle.
On the basis of the confession made by Amir, police arrested Mohsin and Sakib from the city’s Panchliash thana area with two stolen motor cycles.
After confession of Sakib, police arrested Mohammad Iqbal from Chandgaon residential area with two other motorcycles.
