Today is the 29th death anniversary of Poet Moniruddin Yusuf. He was an eminent thinker, scholar, linguistic, translator and above all a poet of Bangla literature. Due to his translation of ‘Shahnama’ he has earned the status of a classic in our literature.
His prose work & include ‘Rumir Masvabi’, Iqbaler Kabya Sanchayan,’ Diwan-E-Ghalib.’ Bangladesher Sarbik Agragatir Lakkhey Ekti Prostab’ as well as some novels, one of the ‘Ponosher Kanta’ novel deals with the Liberation War of our country.
He wrote many poetry books including ‘Betosh Pata Jaler Dhara’, First poet book ‘Upayan’ published in the year 1941. He achieved many awards including Bangla Academy Award and Ekushey Padak.
Milad Mahfil already arranged on 10th February after Juma prayer at Poet’s paternal Boulai Sahebbari Jam-e-Mosque, Boulai under Kishoregonj District.
Another Milad Mahfil will be arranged in Noor-e-Madina Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage, Ekota Housing (3rd project), Dhaka, Udayan, Mohammadpur, Dhaka after Asr prayer on the 12th February. Poet’s friends, family members and well-wishers are requested to attend this event.
