UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Wednesday alleged that the Prime Minister’s remarks involving it with Indian intelligence agency RAW before her upcoming visit to the neighbouring country is a part of the government’s ‘fixed match’.
“The Prime Minister has tried to come to the spotlight with her sudden anti-Indian remarks. She has said India’s RAW with the help of the USA installed
BNP in power in 2001. Her such abrupt comment against RAW is mysterious,” said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Speaking at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he further said, “We think the making of sudden anti-RAW statement by the Prime Minister is a part of the government’s fixed match and mockery.”
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a programme said, “When a US company had wanted to sell gas to India just before the national election in 2001, Khaleda Zia took BNP to power through giving an undertaking of selling gas.” She had also said the then agent of RAW and officials of the US embassy passed time at ‘Hawa Bhaban’ before the 2001 parliamentary elections so that Awami League could be defeated and BNP grab power and thus sell gas. Referring to an Indian magazine’s report, Rizvi claimed that Ziaur Rahman was killed in Chittagong in 1981 a few days after RAW opened a file to kill him.
“So it’s clear to the country’s people whose interest RAW works for,” he said. The BNP came down hard on the Prime Minister for seeking vote for her party in rallies in Bogra and Laxmipur, saying: “As per the RPO, seeking vote holding a profitable post and the portfolio of the country’s Prime Minister is the violation of the electoral code of conduct.”
He also alleged that her such call may influence the Comilla City Corporation polls.
