Students and teachers of Rangpur Technical School and College (TSC) yesterday lauded Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina for her initiative of establishing 329 technical schools and colleges across the country.
They expressed special gratitude to the Prime Minister for approving the Taka 20,525.69 crore project to set up these technical school and colleges at the upazila level to produce skilled human resources building a developed country by 2041 next.
Led by Principal of Rangpur TSC Engineer Arbinda Kumar Barman, over 2,000 students and teachers of the institution brought an ‘Ananda Rally’ on the streets and gathered on the Deputy Commissioners’ office premise in the city.
The Principal sent a letter congratulating the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner for her farsighted imitative taken to produce technically skilled human workforce to further speed up national development. Later, Chief Instruction of Rangpur TSC Ahsan Habib, Instructor and teachers Abdus Slam, Mostafa Kamal, Shariful Islam, Shahin Khan, Sana Ullah, Hedayetul Islam, female and male technical students addressed the occasion. Welcoming the imitative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the speakers stressed on popularising technical education and latest information technologies among the young generation to produce skilled human resources befitting for the 21st century.
They said spreading technical education and information technologies among the young generations would build a solid base to properly use the current demographic dividend to accelerate progress in building a developed nation.
The Principal said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman first put due importance on technical education understanding its crucial requirement for national development to build a Sonar Bangla that was his life-long dream.
“Accordingly, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put proper importance on popularising technical education among the youth generations,” he said, adding that the rate of enrolment to the technical educational institutions stood at only one percent in 2009.
“However, as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the rate has now increased to 17 percent in 2019 and the trend continues increasing to produce huge skilled human workforce,” he said.
