The tour programme of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Barisal scheduled to be held on April 24, declared as cancelled.
Shohidul Alam, Deputy Commissioner, Barisal, confirmed the report on Wednesday afternoon.
In that programme it was scheduled that the PM will inaugurate the permanent campus of Barisal University constructed at Karnakathi on eastern bank of Kirtankhola River and will address a meeting of the elites at the campus ground.
The DC Barisal however failed to explain the cause of cancellation of the PM’s programme as it was not mentioned in the message sent from the concerned authority, but hoped that fresh date of her Barisal tour would be fixed in near future.
For that programme construction works of two academic and one administrative building were speeded and all other preparations were completed, told Prof. Dr. Harunor Rashid, vice chancellor of BU.
