The government has announced the names of the recipients of the Prime Minister’s National Award for Tree Plantation-2016 and National Environment Award-2017.
Twenty-seven individuals and organisations have been nominated for the Prime Minister’s National Award for Tree Plantation in nine categories for their contributions to tree plantation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal Gazi Md Saifuzzaman, Mokarram Hossain from Green Road in the capital and Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd have been chosen for the National Environment Award in two categories.
The Environment and Forests Ministry issued separate gazette notifications on May 25 in this regard.
Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju disclosed this at a press briefing at the ministry on Wednesday.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will distribute the awards at a programme in the city on June 5 marking the World Environment Day.
