Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed on Wednesday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to materialize Bangabandhu’s dream of transforming the country into ‘Sonar-Bangla’.
“She (Sheikh Hasina) is working relentlessly to build a poverty and hunger-free ‘Sonar Bangla’, dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We have to turn the country into a middle income one by 2021 and alleviate poverty by 2041,” Martuza said while addressing a women rally at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office in Narail.
The district administration and district information office organized the rally on publicity activities on the branding of the PM’s 10 special initiatives and successes and achievements of the government in different sectors with DC Md Emdadul Haque Chowdhury in the chair.
Director General of Mass Communication Directorate Md Jakir Hossain addressed the rally as special guest.
The information secretary said the government is recruiting women in all sectors on priority basis to bring them in the mainstream development.
The government is providing stipends, books and education materials to the girl students free of cost and supporting the widows and the elderly women with allowances, he added.
The government ensures equal rights of women which reflects the success of the present government, Martuza said, urging all to publicize the government’s initiatives taken for women in their respective areas.
Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Swapna Sen, District Women Affairs Officer Anisur Rahman and Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department Chinmay Bishwash addressed the function, among others.
