Bangladesh has expressed profound shock at the loss of lives and property caused by devastating floods and landslides in Sri Lanka.
“We’re particularly distressed for the people still missing in the Aranayaka landslide,” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in a condolence message to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. The Prime Minister reaffirmed
Bangladesh’s solidarity and support for the government as well as for the people of Sri Lanka. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the bereaved families and those displaced by the floods,” she said. The Prime Minister hoped that Sri Lankan people, under the prudent leadership of Sirisena, will overcome this disaster with courage and fortitude.
