PM seeks more investment from developed countries

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday sought more financial assistance and investment from the developed countries for further uplift of Bangladesh.
“We need more financial help and investment from the developed nations for further uplift of Bangladesh,” she said.
The Prime Minister came up with the views when outgoing French Ambassador to Bangladesh Michelle Trinquier called on her at her office here this morning.
After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters.
He said the Prime Minister highlighted different development activities taken by her government.
Sheikh Hasina said her government has created a fund of US Dollar 385 million from its own resources to save the country from the adverse impact of climate change.
“We are now spending the money from the fund for adaptation and mitigation of climate change,” she said.
In this connection, the Prime Minister called upon the developed countries to release their pledged financial assistance for the climate vulnerable countries.
The French ambassador highly appreciated Bangladesh’s firm stance on climate change and leadership role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard on the world stage.
Michelle Trinquier mentioned that the French Development Agency has been providing financial assistance to Bangladesh for tackling climate change in the coastal region.
The French envoy also lauded Bangladesh’s stunning success in different fields including education and millennium development goals.
Michelle Trinquier thanked the government for its sincere cooperation to perform his responsibility during his stay in Bangladesh.
Later, outgoing Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mian Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi Qureshi called on the Prime Minister at her office here.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister underscored the need for maintaining peaceful environment for development of any country.
Sheikh Hasina said she highlighted the Israeli atrocities on the Palestinians in every forum including the recent United Nations General Assembly. “Wherever I have gone I raised the issue,” she said.
The Pak high commissioner thanked the government for extending its sincere cooperation to discharge his duty during his tenure in Bangladesh.
