Country’s biggest Eid congregation held at Sholakia

The country’s biggest Eid congregation was held in historic Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj amid unprecedented security.
The Eid prayers, led by Noted Islamic Scholar Maulana Farid Uddin Masud, began at 10:00 on Saturday morning (June 16) with the participation of over thousands of devotees from different parts of the country.
Devotees started coming to the ground from early morning on the day. They participated in the 191th prayers of Eid-ul-Fitr.
However, additional law enforcers were deployed to ensure security to the devotees.
Close-circuit cameras and metal detectors were used at the entrances of the prayer ground.
Two special trains ran between Bhairab-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh- Kishoreganj to facilitate the Muslims joining the country’s largest Eid congregation.
The first Eid jamat was held in 1828 in Sholakia. Maulana Sayeed Ahmed was the first Imam to conduct the Eid jamat attended by about 125,000 devotees.
Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM said The New Nation that we have taken highest security measures in and around the Sholakia ground with deploying around 1200 police man, five platoons BGB, RAB, 10 platoons APBN and peaceful holding of the largest Eid jamat. Three drones having camera hovered over the entire Sholakia Maidan and 65 CCTV’s to make security foolproof.
