BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is repeating the mistakes of her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as the she is trying to establish one-party ‘BAKSAL’ rule like her father.
“The illegal PM claimed that the people are not responding to the movement of BNP-led alliance. The government killed 310 people and abducted 65 persons in the three months prior to the January 5 polls but could not ensure even 5 percent votes in the polls. It proves that the people did not accept the polls as well as the Awami League,” he said at a discussion at the National Press Club on Thursday.
A fraction of the National Awami Party (NAP) arranged the discussion to mark the 38th death anniversary of country’s legendary leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani with its chairman Advocate Azharul Islam in the chair.
The USA, the UK, the UN and the EU too had the same view,” the BNP spokesperson said.
Reiterating the demand of mid-term polls, Fakhrul said that there is no alternative to another election participated by all. BNP will take part in it, he added.
About frequent gold hauls at airports, the BNP leader demanded a fair investigation into the hauls. If it is done, the involvement of the ruling party men would reveal, he claimed.
Speaking at a separate discussion in the city, arranged by the BNP’s student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Fakhrul told the JCD men
to take a vow for a tougher street movement to topple the government. The anti-government movement has to be successful even in exchange of the blood. The JCD men should be prepared for the supreme sacrifice, he asked them.
The JCD arranged the discussion at the Institution of Engineers’ Bangladesh (IEB) to mark the 50th birth anniversary of BNP senior vice chairman and Khaleda Zia’s elder son Tarique Rahman. JCD president Rajib Ahsan presided over the function.
Before the rally, the JCD arranged drawing competition and some other functions.
Addressing the programme, BNP standing committee member and Dhaka city unit convener Mirza Abbas said that the country is now plunged into corruption, terrorism, killing and abduction. Once the present government will have to face trial for these, he said.
He asked the JCD men to be ready for the street movement, as BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will call a decisive anti-government movement soon. The anti-government movement will be intensified in the capital city in the coming days. The government will fall when the leaders and workers of the BNP and its front bodies will come to the streets, he said.
Party’s standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy addressing an another discussion at the National Press Club yesterday said that if the BNP-led alliance launches a tougher street movement then the downfall of the government will be a matter of the time. He urged all to be ready for a decisive movement under the leadership of Khaleda Zia.
