PM reaches UK en route to NY

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here on Wednesday afternoon on her way to New York to attend the 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at the Heathrow International Airport at 3.20 pm (London time), PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told UNB over phone.
Public Administration Minister and Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam and Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Md Abdul Hannan received
the Prime Minister at the Royal Lounge of the airport.
Local AL leaders, including UK chapter President Sultan Mahmud Sharif, were present at the airport. Sheikh Hasina will fly to New York by a British Airways flight after a three-hour stopover at the Heathrow International Airport.
The flight is scheduled to reach John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport at 10 pm (NY time) yesterday.
Earlier, the Prime Minister left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for New York at 10 am (BST).
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and PM’s Political Affairs Adviser HT Imam and Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury were present at the airport to see the Prime Minister off.
Besides, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hussain Bhuiyan, PM’s Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad, the chiefs of the three services, the US Ambassador in Dhaka and the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh as well as high civil and military officials were present.
