PM performs Umrah

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now in Saudi Arabia on a five-day official visit, performed ‘Umrah’ in Makkah after Friday midnight.
She offered prayers seeking divine blessings and welfare for the people of Bangladesh as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the Muslim ‘Ummah’.
Sheikh Hasina performed ‘tawaf’ around the holy Ka’ba Sharif and walked and ran between Safa and Marwa. And she later offered the prayers.
Sheikh Rehana, the younger sister of
Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and others accompanying the Prime Minister also performed ‘Umrah’.
Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived in Makkah from Jeddah by road around midnight on Friday.
The Prime Minister is now on a five-day official visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
After her arrival at Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport Friday night, Sheikh Hasina joined a banquet at King Faisal Palace. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz hosted the banquet in honour of the Bangladesh Prime Minister.
Sheikh Rehana, Saudi Minister of Haj and Umrah Dr Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) President Dr Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al-Madani, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Iyad bin Amin Madani, among others, joined the banquet.
