Satellite launching: PM pays homage to Bangabandhu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait in the capital on the occasion of successful launching of the country’s first communication satellite into the space.
The Prime Minister placed a wreath at the portrait of the great leader in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Complex at Dhanmondi-32 and stood there in solemn silence as a mark of respect to the architect of Independent Bangladesh. Flanked by senior leaders, Sheikh Hasina later laid another wreath as the party chief at the portrait of Bangabandhu. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Qader, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sayeed Khokon, Awami League’s Presidium Members Sahara Khatun,Dr Abdur Razzak and Faruk Khan were, among others, present. Awami League joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Dr Dipu Moni, Ahmed Hossain andparty’s organising secretaries Enamul Haque Shamim, Bahauddin Nasim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan,Ashim Kumar Ukil and Mrinal Kanti Das were also present. Bangladesh entered a new era as a proud member of Satellite Club following the successful launching of the Bangabandhu-1 satellite into the orbiton Saturday. Manufactured by the Thales Alenia Space of France, the Block-5 of Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX carrying the 3.7-metric tonne, the satellite began its journey form the Cape Canaveral launching pad in Florida of the USAat2:14 am(BST) on the day.
