Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the deaths of former MP of Kusthia-1 constituency and Doulatpur upazila Awami League president Afaz Uddin Ahmed and vice president of Sunamganj district Awami League Advocate Shafiqul Alam.
In separate condolence messages, she prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed souls and expressed sympathy to the bereaved families.
Advocate Shafiqul Alam breathed his last early Sunday at a hospital in Sylhet. He was 65.
He left behind wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives, colleagues and well-wishers.
Meanwhile, Road Transport and Bridges Minister and AL general secretary Obaidul Quader also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Advocate Shafiqul Alam.
