PM gets emotional visiting Bangabandhu Jail Museum

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday became very emotional as she visited Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Jail Memorial Museum and the Four National Leaders Jail Memorial Museum inside the former Dhaka Central Jail in the old part of the capital.
Sheikh Hasina, the elder daughter of Bangabandhu, became very emotional after witnessing various things Bangabandhu used while in prison during the Pakistani rule.
Accompanied by Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu, the Prime Minister arrived at the former Dhaka Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road at 3.20 pm amid incessant rain and paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation and the four national leaders.
Sheikh Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, local parliament member Haji Mohammad Selim, ex-lawmaker Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, former Bangladesh ambassador to the UN AK Abdul Momen, Dhaka City South AL President Abul Hasnat and General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and Inspector General of Prison Brigadier General Iftekharul Islam were present on the occasion
After arrival at the former Dhaka Central Jail, the premier first placed a wreath at the bust of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Jail Memorial Museum and stayed there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the architect of independence.
After placing the wreath, Sheikh Hasina visited the prison cell where the Father of the Nation had been kept for a long time during the Pakistan rule. The prison cell has now been named the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Jail Memorial Museum.
She later went round the gallery in the prison cell that bears the memory of Bangabandhu.
Both Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, who survived the August 15 carnage of 1975 as they were abroad, became emotional witnessing the things Bangabandhu used during his prison time.
Later the Prime Mnister went to the prison cell where four national leaders — Tajuddin Ahmed, Syed Nazrul Islam, Captain Monsur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman — were brutally killed on Nov 3, 1975.
She laid wreaths at the busts of the four national leaders and stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of deep homage to the memory of the four national leaders.
Earlier , Inspector General of Prison Brigadier General Iftekharul Islam briefed the Prime Minister about various projects of the former Dhaka Central Jail by showing the physical feature survey and topographic map.
Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Jail Memorial Museum and the Four National Leaders Jail Memorial Museum inside the former Dhaka Central Jail on May 8 in 2010.
