PM accuses BNP of secret killings, clandestine attacks

Accusing BNP of secret killings and clandestine attacks, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday urged BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to pursue normal politics by shunning the path of movement.
“A BNP leader said they would overthrow the government by carrying out “clandestine attacks”. So, there is no doubt that those who believe in secret killings and attacks and those come to state power through murders and coups are responsible for whatever crimes are happening in the country now,” she said.
She said while addressing a mammoth May Day rally at Bhawal Badre Alam Government University College Ground here on Thursday afternoon.
Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League chief, called upon the people to remain alert about those who want to do politics of secret killings and attacks in the country.
In this connection, she posed a question why the people would pay price for the mistake BNP had committed boycotting the polls? “Why the farmers, workers and youth community would pay for their mistake?”
“Let her go to them (masters) who have given advice for skipping the January 5 elections,” she said.
Jatiya Sramik League arranged the rally with its president Alhaj Shukkur Mahmud in the chair.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Hoque, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, AL Joint Secretaries Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain, State Minister for Jute and Textiles Mirza Azam, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Gazipur District Council Administrator Akhtaruzzaman, Jatiya Sramik League Executive President Fazlul Haque Mantu, Krishak League President Motahar Hossain Mollah, Jubo Mohila League President Nazma Akhtar, and Chhatra League President HM Badiuzzaman Sohag spoke on the occasion, among others.
Thousands of people, including workers from adjoining industrial districts of Gazipur, Tongi, Ashulia, Savar, joined the rally carrying colourful banners, festoons and AL symbol “boat”.
