First ever woman Principal Information Officer (PIO) of Ministry of Information Kamrun Nahar sought effective role of media to help the branding of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 10 special initiatives to make Bangladesh as a middle-income country by 2021.
She said media could play a vital role in motivating people for branding and implementing 10 special initiatives of Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina.
She made the call at a view-exchange meeting with journalists on “Prime Minister’s 10 Special Initiatives” held at local circuit house this afternoon. Press Information Department (PID) organised the event yesterday.
While talking to journalists, Kamrun Nahar said the main objectives of the function were to make the common people aware of the Prime Minister’s 10 special development initiatives taken to uplift the living standard of the people in the country.
Implementation of the Prime Minister’s 10 special initiatives has already turned Bangladesh into a role model in upgrading life standard of the common people, she said.
“If the 10 special initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be implemented successfully, the life standard of common people will be more developed,” she added.
Bureau chiefs, senior reporters and correspondents from different media houses took part in the discussion and assured the government of cooperation to attain the goals.
With Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Zillur Rahman Chowdhury in the chair, Deputy Director of the PID Fazle Rabbi delivered the greeting speech.
Deputy Director (Local Government) of Chittagong Divisional Commissioner office Mizanur Rahman, President of Chittagong Union of Journalists Reaz Haider Chowdhury, General Secretary of Chittagong Press Club Suklal Das and Civil Surgeon of Chittagong Dr Mohammad Azizur Rahman addressed the function as special guests.
Stressing on proper implementation of the PM’s special initiatives, Zillur Rahman Chowdhury said the common people should be made aware of the successes of the 10 special initiatives to inspire them in building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041.
Mizanur Rahman, in his speech, narrated the Prime Minister’s 10 special initiatives of ‘Ektee Bari, Ektee Khamar’ project, Asrayan Prokalpo, Digital Bangladesh, Education Assistance, Women Empowerment, Electricity for All, Poverty Alleviation, Social Safety-Net, Power Generation, Road Communication Investment Development and Environment Protection.
He discussed the successes already achieved under these initiatives in alleviating poverty, improving livelihoods, ensuring shelters for the homeless people, education, women empowerment, power generation, reaching health services and other fields.
Dr Azizur Rahman narrated the epoch-making successes achieved in community clinic, mental health, education, health and digitization and ICT sectors.
