Pilot of a VVIP flight and role of Immigration Dept

block
A Bangladeshi pilot of the VVIP flight has been denied entry at the immigration of Doha International Airport in Qatar for not carrying his passport. Captain Mahmud, the pilot of a Biman Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Aircraft, flew from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Doha Thursday night to bring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back home after her tri-nation official visit. The insincerity, ineptness and security breach at Dhaka Airport by the pilot is regrettable and hence need repair the image of the National Flag Carrier.
Aviation Secretary rightly pointed the pilot’s irresponsibility behind the incident. Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said steps will be taken against the pilot after investigation into the incident. The National Carrier should come out of the negative image shortly to avoid further damage and acceptance.
In the six months span, we observed Anti-Corruption Commission investigated out huge financial irregularities and anomalies in every department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. From purchasing aircraft, repairing old aircraft, poor ground service, ticket mismanagement, boarding a passenger with fake gun and subsequent “drama”, accidental landing in Myanmar, firing Biman Managing Director, sabotage in PM’s plane and there are many more.
The government needs to re-check the pilot’s statements as the flight carrying Prime Minister must maintain foolproof security. This is not the first time. We had seen serious technical glitches in her flight. Once there were mysterious substances on the runway during her landing. There was also an incident of supplying soup for her without proper examination by security officials.
It’s a big question– how could be officials concerned remain so casual in maintaining security to the head of the government. What’s the job of Immigration Department? We are highly surprised how a pilot of a VVIP flight was allowed to leave country without showing his passport and signing other necessary papers. An intensive investigation is necessary to unearth the mystery behind the incident.
