Hajj 2017: Pilgrims gather in anticipation of transformative experience

Pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj are nopw gathered in Makkah completing last-minute preparations before Hajj rituals begin on Tuesday with the offering of the Maghrib prayer at the Masjid- Al- Haram.
After the Zuhr prayer on Tuesday, Imamul Hajj (the leader of the Hajj) will deliver special sermon (Khutbah) at Masjid-Al-Haram which will include the brief of the rituals of upcoming five days.
The faithful, who were in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, have been visiting various places of Madinah and they will be gathered at Makkah before the rituals begin. On Tuesday, after Maghrib and Ihram, the pilgrims will spend one night at Mina and will say their five prayers of the day through which the rituals will begin.
Meanwhile, security measures have been taken in this occasion of pilgrimage. Roads and tunnels are being cleared from which the pilgrims will go to Mina from Makkah.
Entering Makkah without permission letter has been forbidden while restrictions are put on others to enter Makkah, to ensure a hassle-free experience for the pilgrims.
Many institutions, agencies and individuals are working to serve the pilgrims. Dates, water, tea, coffee, food etc are being distributed among them for free in the mosques including Masjid-Al-Haram. Bangladeshi people are also involved in such services.
Fruit seller Monir Hossain of Chittagong who has been in Saudi Arabia for years, said he tries to provide Bangladesh pilgrims with fruits for free. Amid this, both the locals and pilgrims are working on cleansing themselves of sin and bringing themselves closer to God.
