Physician who studies anesthesia to be given special facilities: Nasim

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim announced the physician, who would attain degree on anesthesia, would be given special offers.
“Modern hospitals have been established at many places in the country, where physicians and nurses are available. But, surgery would not be possible there due to lack of anesthetists. . . so special offers would be given to the physicians who would attain degree on anesthesia,” he added.
The minister came up with the announcement on Thursday while addressing a discussion as the chief guest. Bangladesh Society of Anaesthesiologists (BSA) organized the discussion marking 168th Anesthesia Day at Shahid Dr Milon Hall in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
Urging the physicians to make health treatment available among the poor people, the health minister said: “Help me everybody (physician) so that we could be able to provide medical services to all the people of the country.”
Giving assurance of working together with all physicians, Nasim said: “I am a politician and I have an ideology as a politician but, as a minister, I have no party. I want to work together with the qualified physicians.”
Mentioning country’s preparation for tackling Ebola Virus, the health and family welfare minister said his ministry has issued full alert about Ebola. “Thermal scanner would be brought soon to diagnose the fever of the passengers in airports coming from abroad.”
BSMMU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Prangopal Dutta, Director General of Department of Health Professor Dr Deen Mohammad Nurul Huq, BSMMU Basic Medical Science Faculty Dean Professor Dr Iqbal Arsalan and Surgery Faculty Dean Professor Dr Kanakkanti Barua spoke on the occasion. Professor A B M Maksudul Alam of Bangladesh Society of Anaesthesiologists (BSA) presided over the discussion.
The health minister inaugurated programmes of the day through cutting a cake.
Earlier, in the morning, BSA brought a colorful rally as part of the celebration of the day. The rally started from Central Shahid Minar and ended at BSMMU through parading different roads of Dhaka University.
BSMMU VC Prangopal Dutta opened the rally releasing balloons and pigeons.
