A Dhaka court on Tuesday showed photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol arrested in a case with Sherebangla Nagar police station under the Digital Security Act.
The jail authorities produced Kajol before a virtual
court from jail and after hearing a plea from police metropolitan magistrate Dhiman Chandra passed the order show him arrested in a case which was filed earlier.
On last Monday, the court refused to hear the bail plea of Kajol as he was yet to be shown arrested in the case filed against him under the Digital Security Act.
The virtual court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Dhiman did not hear Kajol’s bail petition submitted to the court by the journalist’s lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua through an email.
The case against Kajol was filed by Saifuzzaman Shikhor, Awami League lawmaker of Magura-1 constituency, with Sher-E-Bangla Nagar police station on March 9.
