UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday hoped that the people of the country will surely reelect Awami League in the next election for the continuation of development.
“In the next election, people will surely vote for Boat, Insha Allah…we seek votes for Boat so that they reelect us to complete the unfinished development projects,” she said.
The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the extended building of National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city.
Sheikh Hasina said, if Awami League is not reelected in the next election, all the unfinished development projects would face the same fate of community clinics.
“Returning to power in 2001, the BNP-Jamaat alliance had shut down all the community clinics although the clinics were providing excellent services to the mass people,” she said.
She mentioned that many development projects taken by the 1996-2001 AL government was closed down by the BNP-Jamaat regime and Awami League government after assuming office in 2009 completed those and opened to people.
Putting emphasis on the continuation of the government for the sake of the country’s development, Hasina said the pace that Bangladesh has gained through numerous development projects during the tenure of the present government will have to be maintained.
“The people of the country will get their desired services and welfare of the people will be ensured,” the Prime Minister said.
Stressing the importance of modernizing medicare services, Hasina described the various development projects taken by her government to upgrade the country’s health sector. “It’s our responsibility to serve people and we’ll provide a beautiful prosperous life to them.”
Hasina emphasized the need for a developed hospital waste management system and mentioned that the government is taking various steps to this end. “This is urgently needed. I’ll request all, including doctors, nurses, patients and attendants, to remain cautious about it.”
She said, the government has resumed community clinic services and some 18,000 community clinics and union healthcare centers are currently operated with providing 30 types of free medicines to patients.
Hasina said that, the introduction of free healthcare services on cellular phone and the telemedicine to the hospital have gained huge popularity.
Talking about the development of medicare services, she said 16 new government and five new army medical colleges have been set up in the country since 2009.
“We’ll establish one medical university in each divisional headquarters.”
