National VAT Day observed in Sylhet: People urged to pay VAT for country’s dev

Alhaz Mahmud Us Samad Chawdhury MP said, the new VAT Act would help remove previous complications in collecting VAT and contribute more to the countries development through VAT collection.
Income of people has increased and commodity prices are stable now, claimed MP Samad urging all to pay VAT and encourage others to pay it for the development of the country. He suggested bringing necessary changes to existing act so that VAT payers are issued VAT certificates without going to the office concerned for several times and 100 percent deposit of collected VAT in government fund is ensured.
Alhaz Mahmud Us Samad Chawdhury MP made this call while addressing as Chief Guest a function, marking the Value Added Tax (VAT) Day and Week-2019 at the Hall room of a hotel in Sylhet city.
Sylhet Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Gulam Mohammed Munir presided over the programme.
NBR Member Md Mashud Sadik, Additional Divisional Commissioner Tahmidul Islam, Additional DIG Joydev Kumar Vhodro, Additional Police Commissioner Poritush Ghush, Tax Commissioner Ronjit Kumar Shaha, FBCCI Director Khondokar Shipar Ahmed, SCCI President ATM Suyeb, Additional VAT Commissioner Md Shofiur Rahman, Joint Commissioner Minhaz Uddin, Deputy Commissioner Md Saydul Alam, Assistant Commissioner Habigonj Probhath Kumar Shinha Also speech the programme as special guest.  
City and district level government and non-government officers, political leaders, city elite and a number of businessmen were present on the occasion.
Khulna (South) Correspondent adds: Speakers at discussion held here on Tuesday underlined the importance of people’s unstinting support to pay the Value Added Tax (VAT) for the country’s overall development.”There is no alternative to boost the revenue collection from the internal resources for lessening dependence on foreign aid” they told the discussion held in observance of the National VAT Day and VAT Week-2019.
Organized by Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate , the discussion was addressed by Member of the National Board of Revenue (Customs policy and ICT) Syed Golam Kibria as chief guest .
Mohammad Mostofa Ali Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate presided over while Commissioner of Khulna Tax Zone Proshanto Kumar Roy, Additional Deputy Inspector General of police, Khulna Range Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Commissioner of Mongla Customs House Suresh Chandra Biswas, among others participate in it .
NBR member Kibria said enhancement of revenue collection from both internal and external sources could be the effective means of reducing dependence on foreign aid as well as executing the different uplift projects.
Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Mostofa Ali informed the meeting that Khulna zone locally collected TK 2414.42 crore in the last 2018-19 fiscal and it also collected TK 1,100.27 crore in the same fiscal year from import sector . Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out
