The people of the country suffer in getting National Identity Cards (NIDs) related services. Even though the sufferers have said that they have spent more than one year for correcting NIDs error, which was Election Commission (EC) officials fault.
According to EC most of the NID related problems are age related, dead voter problem, not found problem, name spelling and address problem.
Moreover, EC had launched online application process for easing the NID related services. Interestingly, most of the NID related service seekers, especially the people from rural area do not know about the service. On the other hand, those who know about the online application, but do not know how to apply? As a result they came to NID Agargoan office to get the service.
When asked, Md Abdul Malek who hailed from Sunamgonj Doarabazar Banglabazar Union said that he was junior from his son Abu Taleb.
According to NID card his son Abu Taleb about 13 years senior from him, he added.
Abdul Malek said he and his son had spent more than one year for getting NID card but still now there are not seeing any hope to get it.
He further said investigation report had been sent to the head office, but it has got stuck here. Even we have to prove that we are father and son. When asked about problem, they said file had been in he quagmire at upper level.
Lalbagh Posta area’s resident Zahirul Islam said that he had applied online for correcting my NID card. My problem was name spelling error.
He said still now I did not get any response from EC. I came here several times to get my NID card, he added.
Recognizing the suffering of service receivers, CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said people are suffering while trying to get NID related service. Few officials are tarnishing the image of EC’s NID related services. CEC said, we all should have been lert on the NID related service.
Kazi Habibul Awal warned the EC officials to be servants, not master.
Mentioning the importance of NID CEC said there are various reasons for error in NID information. But NID officials are responsible to renderde service to the citizens without any harassment and sufferings.
