People suffer from shortage of transports

Dhaka city residents suffered huge traffic tailback on Saturday following daylong celebration of UNESCO’s recognition of Historic 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Many city roads had limited access to public transports for the rallies brought out by Awami League supporters and it created severe traffic gridlock.
Many public transports were seen to carry them to the meeting venue at Suhrawardy Udyan.
The daylong celebration began at Dhanmondi, processions from different parts of the city moved towards Suhrawardy Udyan from the midday.
Roads like Abdul Ghani Road, Topkhana Road, Mintu Road, Kakrail, Hare Road and Dhaka University and Segunbagicha areas were closed to transports.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police set barriers in Segunbagicha, Kakrail, Ramna, and Shahbagh areas. Police members were also present in those spots.
Huge traffic congestion was seen at Purana Paltan, Gulistan, Farmgate, Dhanmondi, Azimpur, New Market, Kakrail, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Moghbazar, Shahbagh, Badda, Banani, Baridhara and Mirpur.
The people waited for a long time to get a transport in many areas.
On the other hand, many pedestrians walked through pavements to avoid gridlock and shortage of vehicles.
