7 rescued while being trafficked from Hili border

Hakimpur police rescued two women and five children from Dakkhin Basudebpur Bangladesh-India Border area while they were being trafficked to India through Hili border in Hakimpur upazila under Dinajpur on Wednesday morning.
Police also arrested Nuru Salam, 40, an alleged trafficker. rescued parson are Toiyoba begum, 38, Toiyoba Khatun, 37, Salam 6, Hamid 10, Hamidul 8, Kulsum 4 and Jamal 5. They also live Badamtoli in Chittagonj.
Locals intercepted a van carrying the women and children near the border at around 11:30am and informed the police. On information, police went there, arrested Nuru Salam and rescued the victims.
Woman killed over petty matter
A woman was killed over a trifling matter at Madhabpur Sardarpara village in Dinajpur Sadar upazila on Monday . Police arrested a woman in connection with the incident, police said. The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 65, wife of Momotaz Uddin of Madhabpur Sarderpara in Dinajpur Sadar upazila. Locals said Anwara Begum went to the house of Nilima Khatun, a neighbour to look for her missing duck. Afterwards, Nilima and Anwara got engaged in a quarrel. At one stage, Anwara sustained critical injury when she was violently pushed against wall by Nilima. Later, she was rushed to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital, where she died on Monday night. Arif Hossain, son of the deceased, filed a murder case accusing five persons.Police arrested Nilima Khatun, 50, wife of Abdur Rashid of the same village. Other accused managed to flee. Nazmul Huda, a Sub-Inspector of Dinajpur Police station and Investigation officer of the case said that police raided different places to arrest others connected with the murder.
