BSS, Dhaka :
Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam on Friday said “digital Bangladesh” is no more a dream, it is now a reality and people of the country are enjoying the outcome of digitization. “Each union information centre across the country has generated employment of two people while the number of mobile phone connections reached 13 crore along with four crore internet users. Now, the people are getting information staying at home, and all have been possible only for the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he added. The minister was inaugurating the two-day digital fair organized by the Keraniganj Upazila Parishad at its premises.
Quamrul said: “We would be a middle income country by 2021 and developed country by 2041 if the present trend of development continues.” He, however, said a vested quarter is trying to bar the ongoing development to turn Bangladesh into an ineffective state. Terming them as new “rajakars”, the food minister urged the people to resist them to ensure country’s development.
Upazila Chairman Shaheen Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Rashedul Islam and other officials also spoke at the function with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman in the chair. Different offices of Upazila, educational institutions and private organizations took part in the fair.
