The people of the country are at a loss what to be done with the fiery prices of daily essentials. The expenditure has exceeded the daily income of mass people. The people from low and middle income group are bewildered to maintain the family.
The outcome of the situation is that the people are desperate to buy products from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) trucks because of lesser market price.
The people stand in queue at he selected spots where TCB’s trucks wait regularly for selling products. They have to get products after waiting hours after hours. Some return enpty handed on account of TCB’s limited products against huge demand.
After visiting few TCB spots on Wednesday, it was seen that all spots were flooded with huge crowd. People wait for a long time for the TCB trucks.
During visit to Azimpur bus stand TCB spot, the scenario gave a different picturesque of people in a queue by catching rope. People of different ages-old to teenagers- were waiting in line for long time.
Afsar Ali, 60 years, was waiting for TCB truck for four hours. He said, my legs are aching as I was waiting for about four hours more.
He said if I leave this place it will be occupied. Rickshaw puller Saju Mia said that those who came to buy products
from TCB truck did not follow rule, but stood scattered. Some time few have tried to break the discipline in the queue
So, we bought a rope and used it to protect the line, he added.
Hanufa Begum who was also waiting for TCB truck said, we can get cheap priced products from hare. But they forced us to buy rotten onion with lentils, oil and sugar.
She said package system is not good. There should have choice option as anyone can get his/her selected items.
She also urged the government to prefer open choice options.
The government is running TCB trucks for lower income group of people where anyone can buy one kilogram lentils at Tk 65, sugar Tk 55, edible oil per liter Tk 110 and onion per kg Tk 30.
One consumer can buy at least two to five kilogram of onions, two kg lentils, two kg sugar and two liters soyabean oil from TCB trucks.
