Pekua Toi-Tong Govt Primary School of Cox’s Bazar clinched the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football crown beating Jaintapur Kamrangi Govt Primary School of Sylhet by 5-4 goals in tie-breaker at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Thursday.
The final between the two teams was locked in 1-1 in the stipulated period.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest at the final and distributed the trophies. Primary and Mass Education Minister Mustafizur Rahman was present as a special guest.
Abu Bakar Siddique put Sylhet team ahead in the very 4th minute while Minaruddin Bullet restored the parity for Cox’s Bazar team in the 33rd minute to force the match towards tie-breaker.
Minaruddin Bullet who scored five goals for the champions was named the highest scorer of the BB Gold Cup tournament while Abu Hanif Noman of the same team was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament.
Patgram Tepurgari BK Govt Primary School of Lalmonirhat emerged champions in the Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Football defeating Charghat Boro-Bari Govt Primary School of Rajshahi by a solitary goal in the final at the same venue Thursday afternoon.
Mitu Akter scored the match-winning goal for the champions in the 10th minute.
Ruma Akter of Lalmonirhat scored four goals to be highest scorer of the meet while Mitu Akter of the same team was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament.
