Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) is being developed as part of increasing the capacity of the country’s main seaport. Multipurpose project with full flyover, container and dolphin jetty, backup yard is progressing in full swing.
Project Director Mizanur Rahman Sarker told that piling is given the highest priority for building the pct jetty.
China has already been piloting the pole driving ship from China. Malaysia has been awarded the order of constructing 1,000 piles of diameter of 0.5 mm diameter of 30-38 meters. Pullets are being brought in 6 trips. Two hundred pile shipments have been made in the first trip. In July, the piles will reach the project site. Another trip will arrive before the pilot driving ship ends by the trip of one trip.
He said that 18 percent of the project was completed. Of this, 29 percent of the work done was completed. 85 percent of Ground Improvement and 60 percent of the 420 meter flyover have been completed. According to the port sources, the PCT is being built to handle 445,000 TEU’s Container handling annually. 7 contractors under the Bangladesh Army are working on this site. The army has already given an advance of Tk 650 crore to the project of Taka 1,868 crore 28 lakh taka.
In the pct 600 meter jetties, a total of 190 meters tall and 10.5 meter drafts (bottom of the vessel), three container vessels and 220 volts of dolphin jetty will be used to carry 1 oil lavender vessel. Under this project, the backup yard will be 16 acres. Where there will be 4,500 TEU’s container capacity.
The project includes 1,01,000 square meter RCS pavement (internal yard and road), 2,168 square meter Container freight station (CFS) shade, 6 meter height 1 thousand 750 meters customs bonded wall, 5,580 square feet port office building, 1 thousand 200 Square meter mechanical and repair factory, 420 meter flyover for airport traffic, 1 kilometer to four lanes and 1 key for six lanes. Lumotor road will be rebuilt.
At the terminal, there are 4 key gantry cranes (KGCs), 8 rubber rubber guided gatry (RGG), 4 straddle carrier, 4 Rich stackers, 1 rail mounted gantry crane (RMG), 4 low-mast fork lift, 2 fire trucks, 1 fire car, There will be three security patrol cars, one ambulance, two tugboats of 50 tons, two pilot boats and two first-speed boats. The foundation was laid on 8 September, 2017. On 20th May, the project progress. Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Shipping, also visited the project. According to the implementation of the project this year by December 2019.
